2007 • JUNIOR SEASON:
A regular competitor on the rings and vault • performed on rings at 12 meets • earned his career-best rings score with a 9.500 against Wisconsin (3/3) • vaulted at 13 meets, earning his career-high mark of 9.375 at the Big Ten Championship individual event finals • competed on parallel bars at three meets, earning his best score against Wisconsin with an 8.650 (3/3) • competed on pommel horse once, scoring 6.050 vs. William & Mary (1/27) • had the team’s highest score on rings at seven meets during the season, and was the team leader on vault at five meets • a letterwinner • was named the team’s Most Improved Gymnast.

2006 • SOPHOMORE SEASON:
Competed on the still rings and vault in the last eight meets of the season • set a personal-best mark of 8.900 on the rings against Iowa (3/10) • had a season average score of 8.516 on the rings • had a career-best vault performance at the Big Ten Championships, where he earned a score of 9.050 • averaged 8.763 on the vault for the season • competed on the high bar in four meets, earning his best score of 8.350 against Wisconsin (3/4) • performed on the floor against Wisconsin (3/4), where he earned a mark of 8.000 • earned his second letter.

2005 • FRESHMAN SEASON:
Floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings and vault specialist • Posted career-best scores in his very first meet with marks of 8.55 on floor and 8.60 on pommel horse at the Windy City Invite (1/8) • had a mark of 8.40 on pommel horse and a career-high score of 8.80 on rings at Iowa (2/19) • registered a career high mark of 8.950 on vault at Nebraska • competed on pommel horse at the Big Ten Championships (3/25) and on pommel horse and rings at NCAAs (4/7) • earned first varsity letter.

HIGH SCHOOL:
2004 graduate of Hightower High School • competed for Houston Gymnastics Center • coached by Tim Erwin and Brian Kiser.

PERSONAL:
Majoring in computer science and Japanese • son of Arthur and Jill Mays • brother Clinton is a former Gopher gymnast • most memorable sports thrill is landing his Tsukahara double back vault in competition • born 5/26/86 • has volunteered in many different activities which usually include helping the community • large interest in Japanese culture and is currently enrolled in the first year of the language • very interested in computers and future technology with a small interest in space • curious of how everything around him works.
