Scored in double figures twice • his 24 rebounds in the Big Ten Tournament is the seventh-most in a single tournament in Big Ten Tourney history.

2005-06 • Senior Season:
Had four points, six rebounds and a steal in 25 minutes at Cincinnati (3/21) in NIT Second Round • did not score, but had four rebounds and two steals in 23 minutes vs. Wake Forest in NIT First Round (3/15) • had four points, nine rebounds (8 offensive), two assists and one block in a career high 33 minutes vs. Iowa in Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals (3/10) • scored three points and grabbed a career high 15 rebounds with two assists and two steals in 28 minutes vs. Michigan in Big Ten Tournament First Round (3/9) • 15 boards was the fourth-most in a Big Ten Tournament game in tourney history • was in double figures again with 10 points, grabbed a new career high eight boards, with three assists, a career high two blocks and one steal in a career high 33 minutes • registered a new career high with 13 points, was 7-of-8 from the line, 3-of-3 from the field, with five rebounds, and two steals in 29 minutes vs. Michigan State (2/11) • had his third straight start and tied a career high for the second straight game with six rebounds to go along with two points and an assist in 19 minutes at Penn State (2/8) • started his second straight game and had two points and a career highs of six rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes at Ohio State (2/4) • started his first career game and registered career highs in nearly every category with six points, 2-of-5 from the floor, three rebounds and three steals in 29 minutes vs. Indiana (1/29) • had an assist in six minutes vs. South Dakota State (12/23) • had one point vs. Grambling (12/21) with a rebound • played eight minutes vs. Coastal Carolina (12/3) and scored two points and grabbed two rebounds.

Redshirted after transferring from Harvard.

2001-04 • Harvard:
Played varsity football his freshman year for the Crimson • was on the basketball team for two seasons.

High School:
A graduate of Hopkins High School • high school coach was Ken Novak • named all-conference and all-area his senior season • All-American nominee his senior year • averaged 17 points, 12 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 blocks per game as a senior • had 67 receptions and 12 touchdowns as a senior on the gridiron • earned all-state recognition in football • was an all-conference pick his junior and senior seasons • earned seven letters as a prep (3-basketball, 3-football, 1-track) • won the Mercury Award as the Outstanding Jewish Scholar-Athlete in Minnesota.

Son of Scott and Beth Puchtel • born Jan. 12, 1983 • father was a football letterwinner in 1974-75 • majoring in applied business • played rugby on a club team at Harvard • psychology major.
