Golden Gopher Eric Decker

Standout wide receiver on the Golden Gopher football team, who possesses tremendous speed and athleticism • first Minnesota athlete to letter in football and baseball since Andy Persby in 1999 • batted .329 and lead the team in walks in his first full year with the baseball program • was drafted in the 38th round by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft, becoming only the third Minnesota player since 1966 to letter in football and be selected in the Major League Baseball Draft.

2008 • SOPHOMORE SEASON (BASEBALL):

Batted .329 with 42 runs, three home runs, 28 RBI, nine stolen bases, 27 walks and a .439 on-base percentage • in conference play, he batted .333 with 22 runs, two home runs, 17 RBI and a .432 on-base percentage • batted .381 with 14 runs, 11 RBI and five stolen bases in 17 games at the Metrodome • had a .366 batting average with 11 runs and eight RBI in 13 games at Siebert Field • batted .364 against lefthanded pitching on the season • had a .398 batting average with runners on base, and a .373 average with runners in scoring position • was 4-for-7 with a two runs and two RBI in two games against No. 2 Missouri on Mar. 25-26 • hit first career home run against Indiana on Mar. 29 when he went 2-for-3 with a run and an two RBI • got on base in all five plate appearances, as he went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI against Indiana on Mar. 30 • went 4-for-6 with a run and an RBI in two games at Ohio State on Apr. 5-6 • went 1-for-5 witih a home run, two runs and three RBI at Northern Iowa on Apr. 16 • was 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI against Illinois on Apr. 20 • finished 3-for-6 with three runs against Iowa on May 4 • went 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, a triple and a stolen base against Penn State on May 15 • named to Big Ten All-Academic team.

2008 • JUNIOR SEASON (FOOTBALL):
A consensus first team All-Big Ten selection and one of 10 finalists for the Biletnikoff Award for best receiver in the nation • named honorable mention All-American by SI.com • led the Big Ten in receptions per game and receiving yards per game • had 84 receptions for 1,074 yards and seven touchdowns • the 84 receptions broke his own school record, and the 1,074 yards were the second-highest total in school history • named to Big Ten All-Academic team.

2007 • SOPHOMORE SEASON (FOOTBALL):
Finished sixth in the Big Ten with 67 receptions, fourth in receiving yards per game and seventh in the conference in receiving yards with 909 • led Minnesota in both categories • Decker had a school-record 67 receptions, and tied for the fifth-highest receiving yard total in school history • led the team in receptions (67), receiving yards (909) and tied for the team lead with nine touchdowns • named to Big Ten All-Academic team.

2006 • FRESHMAN SEASON (FOOTBALL):
Appeared in all 13 games with three starts • caught 26 passes for 378 yards with three touchdowns • participated in 480 plays • Academic All-Big Ten selection • scholar-athlete award winner • earned first letter • named to Big Ten All-Academic team.

2005:

A 2005 graduate of Rocori High School (Minn.) • high school coach was Rick Theisen • selected to the SuperPrep Midwest Team, ranked as the 14th-best receiver • named to the PrepStar All-Midwest Region Team • was a first-team selection on the 2004 Minnesota Associated Press All-State Football Team • two-time all-state, all-conference, all-area and all-section performer • named Rocori’s team MVP as a junior and senior • caught 62 passes for 1,017 yards with 15 touchdowns last season • had 2,156 receiving yards with 28 touchdowns for his career • was also all-conference, all-section and all-area in both basketball and baseball • member of the National Honor Society and all-state academic team.
