CAREER NOTES: Strong-legged kicker who handled Minnesota’s kickoff duties for three seasons • emerged as the team’s primary kicker on placements early in the 2007 campaign • appeared in 42 games as a Gopher • finished his career ninth in career field goals (22) and second in career field-goal accuracy (.759, 22-29) at Minnesota • owns the fifth-longest field goal in school history, a 54-yarder at Iowa in 2007 • scored 135 points as a Gopher • finished 75-of-79 on PATs.

2008 • SENIOR SEASON: Handled both kickoffs and placements for the Gophers • connected on 12 of 16 field goals and 34 of 36 PATs • led the team in scoring with 70 points • averaged 64.4 yards on 62 kickoffs with seven touchbacks • Academic All-Big Ten selection • earned fourth letter. Game-by-Game: connected on a 40-yard field goal and was good on all four PATs in the season opener vs. Northern Illinois (8/30) • tied a career high with six PATs at Bowling Green (9/6) • finished 5-for-5 on PATs against Montana State (9/13) • went 1-for-2 on field goals with a 34-yard make and connected on 4 of 5 PATs vs. Florida Atlantic (9/20) • missed PAT against the Owls was the first of his career • tied his career high in field goals made, hitting on attempts of  33 and 28 yards to go with a PAT at Ohio State (9/27) • also averaged 67 yards on four kickoffs with a touchback against the Buckeyes • named the co-Big Ten Special Teams Player of the week for his three-field goal performance vs. Indiana (10/4) • connected on field goals of 42, 38 and 29 yard vs. the Hoosiers, setting a new career high for field goals made while accounting for 10 of the Gophers 16 points in the game • connected on 3 of 4 PATs at Illinois (10/11) • hit two extra points and connected on a 41-yard field goal at Purdue (10/25) • good on 1 of 2 field goals and both PATs vs. Northwestern • made field goals of 32 and 28 yards against Michigan (11/8) • connected on a 30-yard field goal and three PATs at Wisconsin (11/15) • had one kickoff vs. Iowa (11/22) • made three PATs vs. Kansas at the Insight Bowl (12/31) • kicked off four times vs. the Jayhawks with two touchbacks.

2007 • JUNIOR SEASON: Appeared in all 12 games • handled all 55 Minnesota kickoffs • averaged 65.9 yards per kickoff with 11 touchbacks from the new 30-yard line kickoff spot • ranked second in the Big Ten in both kickoff distance and net average • emerged as the Gophers’ primary kicker on placements three games into the season and finished the year seven of nine on field goal attempts • converted each of his last five field goal attempts including a 47-yarder and a 54-yarder • was a perfect 28 of 28 on PATs • Game-by-Game: was four-of-four on PATs and connected on a 21-yard field goal at Florida Atlantic (9/15) • good on all four PATs and hit a 34-yard field goal vs. Purdue (9/22) • made his lone PAT against Ohio State (9/29) and was two-for two on PATs at Indiana (10/6) • connected on a career-high six PATs at Northwestern (10/13) • had three PATs vs. North Dakota State (10/20) • converted a 29-yard field goal and his lone PAT try at Michigan (10/27) • had two PATs to go along with a 36-yard field goal vs. Illinois (11/3) • drilled a career-long 54-yard field goal on the final play of the first half and added a PAT at Iowa (11/10) • was four-of-four on PATs and hit field goals of 24 and 47 yards in the season-finale vs. Wisconsin • Academic All-Big Ten selection • scholar-athlete award winner • earned third letter.

2006 • SOPHOMORE SEASON: Handled all of Minnesota’s kickoff duties in 2006 • had a 62.0-yard average on 69 kicks • 27 of his kickoffs went for touchback • Game-by-Game: was four-of-four on PATs in the regular season finale against Iowa (11/18) • scored a career-high 11 points in the Insight Bowl against Texas Tech (12/29) • converted all seven of his kicks against the Red Raiders • participated in 81 plays • scholar-athlete award winner • earned second letter.

2005 • FRESHMAN SEASON: Appeared in four games • scored 12 points • was a perfect 9-for-9 on extra points • Game-by-Game: made first career extra point against Tulsa (9/1) • was 2-for-2 on extra points against both Florida Atlantic (9/17) and Iowa (11/19) • converted his first career field goal attempt, a 39-yard field goal against Virginia in the Music City Bowl (12/30) • was a perfect 4-for-4 on extra points against the Cavaliers • scholar-athlete award winner • participated in 18 plays • earned first letter.

2004:
Redshirted • walk-on.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2004 graduate of Robbinsdale-Cooper High School (Minn.) • high school coach was Erik Norby • graduate of same high school as Gopher record holder Dan Nystrom • 2004 Minnesota all-state selection at kicker • all-conference kicker in 2004 • also pitched and played outfield on his high school baseball team • valedictorian of his graduating class • winner of the U.S. Army National Scholar-Athlete Award.

PERSONAL:
Chemical engineering major • son of Kelley and Nancy Monroe • born July 27, 1986 • lists beating Armstrong in triple overtime as his most memorable sports thrill.
