The University of Minnesota men's golf team fired a final round 5-over
285 and finished tied for ninth at the NCAA Men's Golf Championships.
Teh Gophers fired a tournament total 13-over 1133 finishing 24 shots
behind national champion Stanford. The top-10 finish marks the second time in as many years the Gophers finished in the top 10 at the national tournament and the third time in six seasons under head coach Brad James.
The Gophers were led on the second consecuitve day by sophomore Victor Almstrom. Almstrom fired at career best 67 in the final round to move him into a tie for 15th at 1-under 279. Almstrom's total of 279 ties for the fifth-best 72-hole tournament in Gopher golf history. The top-15 finish for Almstrom will garner him All-America honors.
Senior All-American Bronson La'Cassie bounced back after yesterday's 79 and carded an even-par 70 to finish in a tie for 22nd at 1-over 281. Niall Turner shot a final round 74 and tied for 42nd at 6-over 286. Freshman Ben Pisani carded a 74 Saturday and tied for 64th at 12-over 292 and junior Clayton Rask tied for 74th at 16-over 296 after a final round 76.
