2005 • SOPHOMORE SEASON: Went 3-6 with a 5.91 ERA in 77.2 innings pitched • second on the team with 13 starts and also was second with 77.2 innings pitched • led all starting pitchers on Minnesota with 57 strikeouts, finished second on the team • finished 3-3 with a 4.27 ERA in Big Ten play • had a 3-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio in conference play with 33 strikeouts and 11 walks in 46.1 innings • tied for the team lead in complete games, all of which came in Big Ten play • had a no-decision against #19 Louisiana-Lafayette when pitched 5.1 innings, gave up two runs and struck out two batters • gave up just six hits, two runs and struck out six in seven innings of work against Butler on Mar. 26 • had a no-decision against #19 Michigan when he gave up just four hits, one run and struck out four batters in six innings • picked up first win of the season against Indiana on Apr. 9, as he gave up five hits, one run and struck out four in seven innings of work • won his second in a row at Penn State on Apr. 16 when he gave up three runs in five innings • had a tough-luck loss at Iowa as he gave up two earned runs in six innings on May 7 • had a career-high nine strikeouts, and gave up two runs in six innings of work in a win over eventual Big Ten regular-season champion Illinois on May 14 • took a tough-luck loss against Ohio State on May 21 when gave up two runs in 6.1 innings of work.

2004 • FRESHMAN SEASON: Went 2-1 with two saves in 13 appearances and struck out 15 batters in 26.1 innings • 0-1 with eight strikeouts in 7.1 innings in Big Ten play • went 2-0 with a 4.15 ERA and six strikeouts in 8.2 innings during Minnesota’s 19-game road trip (Mar. 12-Apr. 11) • picked up his first career save with three scoreless innings in a 3-1 win over No. 14 Nebraska in the Dairy Queen Classic on Mar. 6 • had his first career win against Cal State Northridge on Mar. 17 when he only gave up one run in two-and-two thirds innings of relief in a 12-6 victory • picked up his second career win against Iowa on Mar. 27 when he pitched three scoreless innings of relief in a 19-6 win • had four strikeouts in three scoreless innings to pick up his second save of the season in 3-2 victory over Michigan on Apr. 4 • gave up three runs in two innings to get a no-decision in his first first career Big Ten start against Northwestern on Apr. 25 • made first career appearance against No. 4 Miami (Fla.) on Feb. 29, going 2.2 innings, giving up three hits and two runs • Minnesota Scholar Athlete

HIGH SCHOOL: DeVries graduated from Eden Prairie High School in Eden Praire, Minn. • high school coach was Mike Halloran, a catcher for the Golden Gophers from 1984-87 • Class 3A Player of the Year in his senior season • named to the All-State and All-Regional teams in 2003 • In his junior season he was 4-3 with a 2.18 ERA, one save and 35 strikeouts in 36 and a third innings • he was a two-time All-Lake Conference and an All-County player • helped lead his team to the conference title in 2001 & 2003 • also lettered one year in football.
