A note from Athletics Director Joel Maturi
On behalf of University of Minnesota student-athletes, coaches, and staff, I would like to thank you for your continued interest in, and support of, our Athletics Department. Without the support of loyal alumni and friends, the tradition of Golden Gopher athletics would not be as great. The University of Minnesota is committed to continuing this tradition and reaching the highest levels of success for our entire department. As an institution, we are dedicated to reaching this success while maintaining our integrity. This includes an unconditional commitment to The National Collegiate Athletic Association, Big Ten Conference and Western Collegiate Hockey Association rules. This commitment must be a priority in all aspects of the program and includes knowing and complying with these rules. On this page is a link to our Compliance office. There you will find information that has been compiled to help all of us better understand the rules. Whenever you are unsure of a particular situation, please remember to "ask before you act." You may contact the Athletics Compliance Office at 612-626-2070. With you assistance we know we can reach these common goals.
A note from Compliance Director Frank Kara
As a member of The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the University of Minnesota is responsible for the actions of its "representatives of athletics interests." The NCAA definition of a representative includes, but is not limited to, boosters, donors, alum, faculty, staff and fans. On this page is a link to our Compliance office. This site contains information on the NCAA rules which apply to our representatives. The University appreciates your interest and support and reminds you that an inappropriate or inadvertent action on your part can jeopardize the eligibility of prospective and current student-athletes. A quick glance at the newspaper will show you that even innocent acts may jeopardize student-athletes and our teams. Because of the complexity of NCAA rules, this information cannot cover all situations and should not be relied upon exclusively. Therefore, we ask that you contact the Athletics Department at 612-624-4497 or Athletics Compliance Office at 612-626-2070 should you have any questions. |
